The out-of-home advertising market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 6.4% from 2022-2032, according to Fact.MR, a market research firm.
A key component to that growth is the industry’s embrace of digital technologies like AI and near-field communication.
Billboards of course dominate the market with a 68% share, according to Fact.MR.
Here’s a look at some of the best digital out-of-home ads so far in 2022:
WhatsApp: WhatsApp recently promoted its security credentials with an ad in London’s Piccadilly Square that shows a building opening and closing its windows and then displaying a metal lockdown mode and a safe closing to illustrate WhatsApp’s security claims.
LED Billboards: Billboard ads don’t have to be limited by the space they’re allotted. In this video, a hand crashes outside the confines of a billboard ad, a futuristic ship flies out of a billboard and an elephant, a panda and a lion appear to transcend billboard space, among other feats.
Nike Japan ad: In this ad, a Nike shoebox appears in a billboard space in Tokyo and then several shoes appear to come out of the box to advertise Nike Air Max.
Arnon Media: 3D LED displays show a man looking out of a billboard, a flying phone and a car driving outside a billboard for this Indian OOH advertising firm.
Samsung: This outdoor 3D video ad for the Galaxy S22 series phone shows a tiger flipping a button and then swatting at the word “Galaxy” and eventually charging out of the billboard space.
